Amritsar-born Akshay Kumar has played the Punjabi character with elan in many of his films like ‘Namastey London’, ‘Singh Is King’, and ‘Patiala House’... all of which had a strong Punjabi connect and flavour to it. Further, with Bollywood heroes playing a "Singh" becoming trendier by the day, Akshay donned the turban in many of his films. And as we all know, in his upcoming home production, ‘Singh Is Bliing', he will be once again seen in the turbaned look as Raftaar Singh. Patiala House (Parghat Singh Kahlon alias Gattu)
A Sikh in London nearly abandons his dreams, summons the courage to challenge his father and start a movement that will shake the very foundations of Patiala House. Driven by passion for cricket, Akshay Kumar or Parghat Singh Kahlon alias Gattu adopts a pseudo name Kaali to play for England cricket team in the film. He will participate to begin a change and win over his father, who had once threatened to commit suicide if he played cricket.
Khiladi 786 (Bahattar Singh / Tehattar Singh)
This was a fun film and we loved Akshay Kumar’s colourful and fearless Bahattar Singh who wears his lucky number (786) on his sleeves...oops...on his hands. A colourful Punjab is shown as his character is introduced and Akshay brings out his Punjabiness by arriving in a truck to disco! And we get to see a double role of Akshay!
Namastey London (Arjun Singh)
Naive and a simpleton, Arjun Singh gets married and settles abroad only to find his wife (Indian by birth and western by heart) loves a firangi. Gradually, Arjun weaves his magic and makes her understand the Indian values and his wife (Katrina Kaif) falls head over heels in love with him. He wins his wife’s and our hearts in this film.
Singh is Kinng (Happy Singh)
When his name is Happy...can Happy Singh aka Akshay Kumar be sad? A happy go lucky chap Happy Singh is sent to Australia to bring back his brother Lucky Singh, who has become a mafia king. And Happy, with his hilarious antics solves all problems.
Singh is Bliing (Raftaar Singh)
