Biggest Box office clashes in Bollywood history!

A clash between films at the Box Office is inevitable. With less of Fridays and more of films, everyone is scrambling for that space and positioning that will promise maximum gains. But often they just eat into each others profits. With Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty’s Dilwale and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani pitted against each other and the whole drama to unfold soon once these two biggies open on December 18, we bring you some of the biggest box-office clashes in the history of Indian cinema.

Box Office Clash in 2015-16

Sultan Vs Raees

If things go as planned now, both these movies will release on Eid 2016. This could be the biggest clash at the Box Office next year – two superstars with massive fan following, Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan will hit the screens on the same day.

 

Bajirao Mastani Vs Dilwale

SRK-Kajol-starrer Dilwale and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra will release in the Christmas week this year. 

 

Some of the biggest Box Office clash of the past:

Son of Sardaar Vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan

It was an ugly clash between SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar with the latter sending a legal notice apparently accusing the makers ofJab Tak Hai Jaan, Yash Raj Films of manipulating the distributors to allocate higher number of screens for their film. However, both the films were declared hit.

 

Om Shanti Om Vs Saawariya

The two most hyped movies – Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya, battled out each other for Diwali supremacy in 2007 which resulted in one way victory for SRK.

 

Sholay Vs Jai Santoshi Maa

It was like the clash of the movie of the century versus one of the biggest devotional movies ever in Bollywood. Initially, Jai Santoshi Maa was a clear winner but eventually Sholay took over, and the rest is history.

 

Dil Vs Ghayal

It was for the first time when Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan were pitted against each other and it turned to be a neck to neck competition between the two.

 

Raja Hindustani Vs Ghatak 

Another clash of movies starring Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol but this time Aamir emerged winner, however, Ghatak, too, was a big commercial success.

 

Lagaan Vs Gadar

Yet once again the two actors locked horns, and while Aamir Khan-starrer Lagaanwas critically acclaimed and box office success as well, Sunny Deol’s Gadarbecame the highest grossing movie ever.

Silsila Vs Arth

Gossip columns those days were abuzz about Amitabh Bachchan’s alleged liaison with Rekha while Yash Chopra managed to get them together in a film that made history. On the same day, Mahesh Bhatt too released his extra marital saga Arthwith Shabana Azmi-Smita Patil-Kulbhushan Kharbanda in it. While Silsila just managed, critically acclaimed Arth impressed one and all.

 

Aitraaz Vs Veer Zaara

Akshay Kumar’s Aitraaz which had Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra as female leads, clashed with Shah Rukh Khan’s Veer Zaara. Though Veer Zaara’ssuccess was anticipated and went on to be the biggest hit of Diwali, 2004, Aitraaztoo wasn't a loser.
