Tomorrow, veteran actor and Bollywood's greatest living performer, Dilip Kumar, will be immortalised in a biography. The book launch event is planned with Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan as guests of honour, and most of Bollywood- from veterans to young actors, to the Khans, to the Kapoors- are expected to attend this special, glamorous tribute.
We bring you an inside glimpse of this book that tributes Dilip Kumar through the eyes of friends, colleagues and industry insiders.
In this book, a chapter has been written by Mahesh Bhatt. Instead of focusing on his films, and his acting abilities, Bhatt has written about his personal experiences of interacting with the veteran star, and the humbling feeling one gets from him. Often ridiculed for being a serial activist, Mahesh Bhatt, surprisingly, has an admirer in Dilip Saab. He has supported the film maker for being a vocal critic of certain aspects of Hindi Cinema, and for taking on state levelled control or harassment in the past. He has gone on to say that "People like him keep the spirit of the film industry alive'. Bhatt's chapter elucidates that Dilip Saab is a proud member of the film industry, one who will reach out to overall reform and change in lives of workers, filmmakers and operating standards. He has always paid attention to big changes within the industry, and will give a sympathetic ear to those who seek his opinion and consultation.
Apart form other starry tributes planned here, this event might have Karan Johar hosting the proceedings.
