We recently told you that Ekta Kapoor is producing a biopic on cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. The project will be directed by Anthony D'souza (“Blue”) and stars Emraan Hashmi in the titular role. While rumours are rife that Kareena Kapoor Khan will play Sangeeta Bijlani, Prachi Desai has now been roped in to play his first wife Naureen in the film.
Prachi enlightens ''This is the second time I will be playing a Muslim woman and put a face to a young and innocent character who has never been spoken about''. She adds that her look for the film is still being finalized and she will have a meeting with Naureen soon.
On the role of Sangeeta Bijlani, Prachi asserts that though no one has yet been finalised ''Kareena would make a sizzling Bijli''. She also reflects "Given a choice I'd have loved to play Sangeeta who is a more exciting character''.
Incidentally Salman Khan also feels Kareena reminds him of Sangeeta, as he mentioned during the promotions of “Main Aur Mrs Khanna” that ''Kareena reminds me a lot of Sangeeta, her personality, the way she talks, something very similar''.
The biopic chronicles Azarhuddin's life, cricket match fixing controversies and stormy relationships. Kareena who is shooting for “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” with Salman Khan is all but finalised for Abhishek Chaubey's 'Udta Punjab'. Emraan is working on “Mr. X”, “Hamari Adhuri Kahaani” and “Badtameez”.
