Preity Zinta's dialogue writer of the movie 'Ishkq in Paris' - Abbas Tyrewala, filed a cheque bouncing case against the actress when a cheque of Rs 18.9 lakh issued to him, bounced.

Following this, a local metropolitan magistrate's court at Andheri issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Preity. Her lawyer Ratneshwar Jha confirmed this to TOI.

"The court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Zinta today. We will move the court to cancel the warrant or we will move the Bombay high court and file a writ," he said mentioning that Preity is currently out of the country.

Ishkq in Paris was Preity's production venture, which released last year and bombed at the Box Office.

Grand Masti Movie Reviews

Here are the movie reviews for Grand Masti:

Ratings:3.5/5 Review By: Taran Adarsh Site:Bollywood Hungama

A film like GRAND MASTI isn't plot-driven. Not at all. And don't even expect a story here. It's more about double entendres, [sexual] puns and gags and the writers go bananas to woo the spectator. There's nothing left for imagination here, nor does it hinge on puerile or kiddish jokes, since the characters indulge in some really naughty play of words. The humor, let me add, may sound provocative, disgusting and offensive, but come on, what are you expecting from a film like GRAND MASTI? On the whole, GRAND MASTI crosses all limits and boundaries vis-a-vis adult humor. This one's *strictly* for those who relish naughty jokes, outrageous lines and scandalous visuals.

Ratings:2/5 Review By: Karan Anshuman Site:Mumbai Mirror

Grand Masti is unabashedly gross, vulgar, crass, shameless and fearlessly adult. But for a moment one has to step back from the noise of dissent - from the guardians of Indian culture and their histrionic fatwas - and ask yourself one simple question: Who are we to choose for others? Bollywood's foray into the genre, I suspect, is here to stay. Be prepared for many more Grand Mastis, just remember the choice is yours.

Ratings:3/5 Review By: Meena Iyer Site:Times Of India (TOI)

Grand Masti stakes its claim to being Bollywood's first adult comedy. And, just like the innumerable puerile potboilers that India's dream factory churns out with a warning that says — leave your brains behind, this one should have a disclaimer that reads, 'Leave your pretensions behind'. Once you do this, you can sit back and laugh aloud at the crass jokes this film throws up at regular intervals.

Ratings:-- Review By: Komal Nahata Site: Zee ETC Bollywood Business

There is a lot of skin show and there are also plenty of adult jokes and dialogues, which will appeal to the audience. However, these very ingredients and scenes will repulse the orthodox and family audiences as also many women. Some scenes are outright cheap and leave a bad taste in the mouth. On the whole, Grand Masti will be loved by the youth, masses and front-benchers and disliked by the family audience and ladies. In the final tally, it will prove to be a richly rewarding fare.

Ratings:0.5/5 Review By: Shubhra Gupta Site:Indian Express

No one expects films of this sort – boys and their toys – to be sophisticated or intelligent. By definition, they are meant to be crass and tasteless. But then filmmakers getting into this should go the whole hog, and give us what they promise: there was nothing adult in what I saw, only pubescent groping. In a slack tale, laden with stale lines, and a moral science lecture tagged on.

Ratings:0/5 Review By: Abhishek Mande Site:Rediff

I do wish I had something, anything good to say about the film but I’m afraid there is nothing. There were parts that made me cringe so much that I couldn't bear to look at the screen. It is disturbing that a film of this nature should have a budget of a few crores, get such a wide release and receive so much publicity. I am going with zero out of five stars for Grand Masti because there is no way you can enjoy this movie and still claim you respect women.

Ratings:0.5/5 Review By: Mohar Basu Site:Koimoi

What’s Good: Nothing. What’s Bad: Everything. Watch or Not?: Grand Masti is obnoxious and detestable so much so that it can pass for a mild porn film. Replete with sexual innuendos, without a hint of story, this film establishes male chauvinistic notions that men are horny beasts and women are nothing more than available creatures to provide pleasure. It’s so unbearable and disturbing to watch such films that demean women so brutally! Belonging to the genre of adult comedy, this film is a vent for the sexually frustrated.

Ratings:1.5/5 Review By: Rohit Khilnani Site:India Today

I would happily enjoy an adult comedy if it was funny but I doubt that the makers of this film know the difference between funny and cheap. When a film makes you uncomfortable and gives you that awkward feeling which only a porn film can give, if you end up watching one in a crowd, then of course it's not entertaining. Funny and Cheap are two different things, this one is definitely the latter!

Ratings:No rating Review By: Subhash K Jha Site: IANS

What can be said about the writing when the three ladies whom the married heroes make out with are named Rose, Mary and Marlow, only so that their names can together sound like “roz-meri-mar-lo” meaning , very crudely, bang me every day. More than the boys I salute the three pairs of ladies playing the trio of gharwallis and baaharwallis for surrendering to the sexually suggestive spirit of the proceedings. A woman really needs to have nerves of steel to refer to her breasts as “doodh ki factory”. The writing and direction in a film such as this is either a sign of absolute innocence about political correctness or indicative of an obstinate disregard for all good taste. Take your prick...I mean, pick.

Death for gang-rapists, nation applauds

$
0
0

A judge Friday took just a few minutes to sentence four men to death for the pitiless gang-rape of a young woman in Delhi last December resulting in her death, a verdict that was applauded across the nation.

Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna, who presided over a fast-track court that finished the trial in seven months, said their "hair rising beastly and unparalleled behaviour" definitely qualified it as one of the "rarest of rare cases".

"Hence, I award the following punishment to each of the convicts," the judge said, symbolically breaking the nib of the pen. Accordingly, "the convicts be hanged by neck till they are dead."

However, their execution might still be some time away. Defence lawyer V.K. Anand said he will appeal to the high court against the sentencing. The convicts have also a last recourse to the Supreme Court and if, that also fails, the president of India.

The four men - Mukesh (26), Pawan Gupta (19), Vinay Sharma (20) and Akshay Thakur (28)- were convicted Tuesday in the case that jolted India and caught global attention.

The judge sentenced the four to death for murdering the 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist. On Tuesday he had found the four guilty on 11 counts, including murder, gang rape and dacoity.

The mother of the 23-year-old victim said she is “very satisfied” with the judgment and finally at peace.

"I am satisfied now, and we are finally at peace. They have been given the punishment which they truly deserved," she told IANS as tears welled up in her eyes.

"If they appeal to the high court, we will fight back. We are prepared for a very long battle to get justice," said the mother of the physiotherapy intern.

According to the victim’s brother, the four accused “got what they deserved.”

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde echoed the national sentiments when he said: "Justice was given to the girl and the family.

"It passes on the message that if you commit this crime, this is the punishment you will get," he declared.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushma Swaraj said the death penalty will act as a deterrent for such offences.

The court, in awarding the death sentence, said the convict's “inhuman acts of torture” before her (victim) death had not only “shocked the collective conscience” but calls for the withdrawal of the protective arm of the community around them.

It also said when gruesome crimes against women have become rampant, the courts cannot turn a blind eye to the need to send a strong deterrent message to its perpetrators.

"The crime of such nature against a helpless women, per se, require exemplary punishment," he added.

As soon as the judge read out the sentence, Vinay Sharma fell down and started whimpering "Sir ji, Sir ji (please sir, please sir)" addressing the judge.

But soon the police took all the accused away.

Additional Public Prosecutor Dayan Krishnan said after the judgment was delivered: "All I can say is that I have done my job. I have never seen brutality like this."

Mukesh's lawyer Anand said: "We will appeal in the high court. This did not deserve death sentence."

After the judgment was announced, there was loud cheering outside District Court, Saket, where hundreds of people had gathered since noon in anticipation of the judgment.

The 23-year-old woman was brutally gang raped on a moving bus by six people, including a juvenile. The accused then threw her and her male companion out of the vehicle -- without clothes -- on the cold December night.

The woman died of grave intestinal injuries Dec 29 at Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital where she had been airlifted for specialised treatment.

One of the six accused was found dead in a cell in Delhi's Tihar Jail while a juvenile involved in the crime was Aug 31 sent by the Juvenile Justice Board to a reform home for three years, the maximum under the juvenile law.

Kareena Kapoor to play a Begum onscreen?

$
0
0

Kareena Kapoor, who became a begum after her recent marriage to Nawab Saif Ali Khan, is all set to play a Begum onscreen too.

You will recall she was previously offered the biopic 'Begum Samru', based on the life of Begum Joanna Nobilis Sombre - a political power struggle leader.

The film to be directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, was delayed as it requires extensive preproduction for several months, and Tishu preffered to go ahead with projects like 'Revolve Rani' and 'Bullet Raja'. Rani Mukherji, who was the first choice, has bowed out citing date problems, but it seems Kareena Kapoor Khan is in line to bag the role now.

Bebo will be making a decision about the film as soon as she returns from London.

For those not in the know --> Begum Samru started her life as a nautch (dancing girl), who later moved on to become a political struggle leader in the 18th Century. The Begum had her own mercenary army, and the only Catholic Ruler in India (though she later converted to Islam)

Tigmanshu had earlier said,

"The film is set in the 1840s and will be based on a Hindi novel. The story is a different take on Umrao Jaan. The lead actress will be a begum, not a nautch girl. The begum woos four men before falling in love with one of them and that's where the trouble begins".

Its said Kareena and Vidya initially turned down the film due to steamy love making scenes.
However, news is that Kareena is now indeed considering the film.

Plotting and bad-mouthing are synonymous with "Bigg Boss" and the seventh season has just started and inmates are already at it. Their first target is Anita Advani, who claims to be the live-in partner of late superstar Rajesh Khanna.

The housemates have called her "fake" and feel that she does not "deserve" to be in the "Bigg Boss" house, said a source from the channel.

Based on the theme of hell and heave, "Bigg Boss - Saath 7" went on air Sunday on Colors channel.

Apparently, Armaan Kohli, Apoorva Agnihotri, Pratyusha Banerjee and Kamya Punjabi got together and criticised Anita. They feel that she is a misfit in the house.

Her introvert nature is not making friends with the inmates. In fact, they have already coined a name for her - 'Aunty of the house'.

In another interview to Koimoi, Ranbir talks about his upcoming projects. He mentions a film with Deepika, directed by Imtiaz Ali, "I will begin shooting for Jagga Jaasoos in November. It will be produced by me and it is awesome working with someone like Anurag Basu who has such an indomitable flair. It is a musical with a detective concept and I will have scenes in which I will play a school boy too. It is a franchise that will be co-produced by Disney and I am very excited for it. I will begin working with Deepika on Imtiaz’s next early 2014. I play a supporting character for Roy which is directed by a dear friend of mine. Ayan Mukherji is scripting down a superhero film, which will be trilogy. So yes I have a great platter of brilliant roles lined up for me thankfully.".

So there, a film with Katrina, and also one with Deepika, a one with both his parents and all these by the hottest filmmakers of B-town. Seems like Ranbir is truly the new age superstar!

Aamir Khan, who features in one of the most awaited films of the year - Dhoom 3 - says he is not thinking about how many records it will break.

Reacting to reports stating that he has claimed that "Dhoom 3" will surpass the business of Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express", Aamir said in a statement: "I am not interested in breaking records. I am an artist, and what gives me a high is to entertain my audience, to give them a good time, and to satisfy them emotionally."

Aamir's last release "Talaash" was appreciated for his performance, but the movie couldn't mint too much moolah. The actor believes the challenge does not lie in building numbers at the box office, it lies in winning the audience's adulation.

"I want to earn the love of my audience. That is what I am thirsty for. I like to challenge myself and do work that I have not done. I like to surprise my audience. These are the things that I am interested in," said the versatile actor, who will be seen in a negative role in "Dhoom 3".

Aamir has just returned to Mumbai after month-long training schedule in Australia where he had gone to learn a special dance form.

"Dhoom 3",which is the third instalment of the Yash Raj Films' franchise, also stars Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif. It will release Dec 20.
